Cooperstown’s Original Bed & Breakfast
Creekside, one of Cooperstown’s first Bed & Breakfasts, a tall Colonial house built in 1849, opened it doors to accommodate guests by two of Glimmerglass Opera’s founders and performers in 1982, founded by Gwen Ermlich and her husband, the late Fred Ermlich. Today, memories of stage productions play an important role at Creekside. In fact, before becoming an inn, the house had expanded out of necessity just to meet the needs of hosting both opening and closing night parties for opera productions. Gwen refers to it as “a happy accident” when this routine turned into a family hospitality business.
Creekside sits on four acres of lawn with a creek for fishing and swimming in beautiful upstate New York. We are five minutes to the Baseball Hall of Fame and good restaurants and 20 minutes to the Opera House. Gwen would be glad to make dinner reservations for you at wonderful restaurants that will be sure to get you out in time for the performances.
All rooms have either Queen or King size beds, private baths, free WiFi, cable TV and full breakfast included in the rate. Some rooms have A/C or ceiling or window fans but also have Down Comforters as even in summer, the nighttime temperatures fall when the mountain air comes in. So it’s a good idea to be prepared for night time performances.
The Baseball Hall of Fame is open year round with only three days closed, easy to guess which three. The Dreams Park baseball camp is 5 minutes away.

“Gracious Elegance From a Gracious Hostess. Our stay covered 4 days and nights, and we enjoyed Waffles and Ham one morning, Scrambled Eggs with Bacon another, French Toast with Sausage on another, and Eggs Benedict on the last. All had toast or muffins, fresh fruits, yogurt, etc. Trust me when I tell you, you will not go hungry.”

“If there was a Hall of Fame for Bed and Breakfast Inns, Creekside would have a special wing made just for it. Everything else pales in comparison with its amenities, food, charm, and where you feel like family and not paying guests. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!”
“Each morning the plate service changes, adding to the gracious elegance offered at the Creekside. Gwen is a former Broadway actress and is a joy to talk with, and the stairwell going to our room was adorned with photos of her throughout her career. She was and is a beautiful lady of the house.”

“The home was warm and inviting… so warm, comfortable and clean. As for breakfast we felt like royalty the china and the care she took to make us feel so welcome and special was awesome and breakfast was delicious!”

“My husband is diabetic and Gwen tailored her yummy breakfasts around him. Delicious, mouth watering and tummy pleasing breakfasts every day. Scrumptious fresh fruits and juices, fresh baked rolls and pastries, waffles, pancakes, eggs, and breakfast meats. They were meals fit for royalty, and that’s just how Gwen made us feel. I heartily recommend Creekside to those looking for that something “special and extra”. The experience will long be remembered. We plan on returning next summer.”
